FAQ
How do I know when an older adult needs Assisted Living in Evanston, IL?
When help is needed with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, meals, transportation, and housekeeping, an Assisted Living residence can be the answer. Trained professionals provide this support while helping preserve an individual’s autonomy.
Is Memory Care available if needed?
Absolutely! As a Life Plan Community, all residents of Westminster Place are guaranteed priority access to our full continuum of care. If the need for Memory Care arises, our team will work closely with you to ensure a smooth transition for yourself or your loved one.
Memory Care at our community includes:
- 24/7 supervision
- Assistance with activities of daily living
- Specialized programming
- Engagement tailored to the cognitive abilities of residents
Our goal is to enhance their quality of life and provide a secure and comfortable living environment.
Can I bring my own furniture and decor?
Yes. Making your senior apartment feel like home is important. Residents bring their favorite things and furniture to make their maintenance-free spaces their own.
Do you have to be a resident of Independent Living first before you can take advantage of Assisted Living, Skilled Nursing, or other services and amenities?
No. In fact, last year, more than 700 “non-residents” recuperated from surgery or benefited from long-term care and short-term Rehabilitation in our health care center. Our Rehabilitative services include physical and occupational therapies and speech/language pathology.
What is the difference between Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Skilled Nursing Care?
Independent Living is designed for those who can live safely without any assistance or supervision. The services provided are primarily for convenience and lifestyle benefits.
Assisted Living is designed for individuals who need regular support but do not need a nurse on a daily basis. Assistance can be provided with activities, such as meals, laundry, bathing, dressing, and medication reminders.
Skilled Nursing care provides the necessary support for those who need a nurse or Certified Nursing Assistant in their day-to-day lives. Individuals might have chronic conditions that require a skilled caregiver in our McGaw Care Center.
What if only my spouse needs to be in Assisted Living or Skilled Nursing? Can we still move in? Where would we live?
A number of couples living at Presbyterian Living do not share the same good health. On an individual basis, we can create a program that may include one spouse in Assisted Living or Skilled Nursing and the other in a nearby Independent Living apartment.
