SUPPORTING NEW WAYS TO WORSHIP AND CONNECT Westminster Place & Ten Twenty Grove The Elliott Chapel has served as a spiritual and communal gathering place for many decades. Dedicated in 1955, this beloved space is where Westminster Place and Ten Twenty Grove residents come for worship, reflection, music, and connection. Generous supporters contributed to multiple renovations and improvements over the years. Updates in the 1990s included the addition of an organ and installation of stained glass windows in the nave. More recently, a sophisticated audio system was installed to amplify sound directly into the hearing aids of those in attendance. But recently the Chapel was again found to not fully meet the needs of residents. The flooring and finishes were tired. Most importantly, the fixed pews limited accessibility for those who rely on wheelchairs or walkers. They were limited to spaces along the aisle or at the back of the room. Recognizing the importance of this space and the obvious need for a refresh, generous donors have once again stepped up. The space is receiving new paint, updated flooring, and comfortable, movable seating that will allow for better accessibility and flexible configurations. Replacing the stationary pews with free-standing chairs will increase seating capacity, improve safety, and most importantly, allow residents who use mobility aids to sit wherever they choose. With this refresh, the Elliott Chapel will continue to be a spiritual and communal gathering place for many more decades. Construction is underway to renew the Elliott Chapel with improved accessibility, updated finishes, and flexible seating that better serve residents today.
